Unique Yoga Mat featuring a straw painting from India. Arty, one-of-a-kind."The Boat Race". From Artikrti.
Yoga Mat- Authentic Indian painting design, eco friendly yoga mat with bag. This ethnic design comes from India, the birthplace of yoga. Authentic arty vignettes of India to add a dash of color & art to the beauty & bliss of yoga.
"The Boat Race"- Ever heard of paintings using slivers of straw from farms and some colors? Yes, you heard it right- this original painting is slivers of straw delicately cut by a blade and meticulously stuck on a cloth canvas and then a few strokes of color from vegetable dyes to accentuate! This art of painting using straw is from Kerala. Long strands of straw and taut piece of cloth as canvas- that's how the artist starts. With deft strokes of her blade, she slits the straw into tiny shards or bits, dabs them with some vegetable glue and creates her straw collage, as she visualizes her piece of art. Once done, the delicate strokes of paint come on, to highlight. In this, the artist pays tribute to a Kerala tradition- the Monsoon & Onam Boat Race on boats carrying 100 rowers, where every village owns its own boat and there is great pomp & festivity every year during the races. This sight is captured by the authentic straw art painting and is bought to you on your yoga mat.

India’s textile, fabric, jewellery & craft traditions go down centuries- the talent of the craftsman and his or her dedication to the craft, passed on from one generation to another. A weave, a mix of colors, a design or a motif, a print, a piece of appliqué work- each a labor of love for the artisan
Artikrti’s [meaning 'artistic creations'] mission is to take the fascinating kaleidoscope that is India and get the world outside to experience it. And add a stroke of beauty that’s different, to each woman’s life- to her personal beauty and her home.
